After UTME, what is next?

 The Joint Admission Matriculation Board has wrapped up the UTME which began May 6 and ended on May 11. 

What's next after UTME

On Saturday, the board released the results, this which was announced by Dr Fabian Benjamin. According to him and also In the JAMB bulletin, it was stated that to check the results, candidates must send "UTMERESULT" to 55019.  

Most Candidates have seen their results and they have known their fate with their various scores. For those that haven't seen their results, the board released a statement that it was due to malpractices. Professor Ishaq Oloyede, the JAMB Registrar, stated that investigation is still ongoing. He said as soon as they are done, the results will be released

Now back to the title, "after UTME, what is next?"  

After UTME, the next thing is there will be a meeting that will be held in Abuja. People that will be present in the meeting are JAMB Registrar, Vice Chancellors, Rectors, Provosts and all other officials across all educational sector in Nigeria.

In this meeting, cutoff marks and admission guide lines  will be discussed for 2022/2023. This meeting might be physical or virtual. After this meeting, it will be legal for all Federal and state Universities to release their criteria, eligibility and cutoff marks for their POST UTME .



In a publication related to this, committee of Vice Chancellors in Nigeria have released a statement that 2022/2023 admissions might be delayed due to ASUU strike. The strike which started on February 14 has actually caused a set back to the calendar. 

Many Candidates who gained admission last year are yet to receive lectures, and this might cause a delay to the new ones incoming. This means that if the industrial strike isn't resolved soon, it will affect the admission and resumption of candidates for 2022/2023 session.
